Hydrogen Water Machine or H2 water machine or hydrogen water ionizer is a machine which generates hydrogen water which is also known as reduced water or alkaline water. This is accomplished through a process known as electrolysis of water, a process where electricity is passed through water to split the water molecule to hydrogen and oxygen.
Here’s how a typical Hydrogen Water Generator works:
1. Water Intake: The Hydrogen Water Maker can either be fitted with a hose, or a pitcher that supplies tap water to the machine.
2. Filtration Through this process the water is filtered to ensure that it does not contain of chlorine, heavy metal and other pollutants.
3. Electrolysis: In the case of water treatment, it is purified through filtration followed by the process of electrolysis. Electrolysis is produced in an electrolysis chamber in which water is divided into hydrogen and oxygen gases. There are electrodes present in the chamber that generate an electric field and hence the water molecules get decomposed. Although water diffusion into the chloride salt occurs passively at both electrodes, hydrogen gas is formed at the cathode which is negative terminal while oxygen is formed at the anode which is the positive terminal.
4. Hydrogen Water Production: Hydrogen gas is then immersed back into the water making the water rich in hydrogen gas i.e.; hydrogen water. Hydrogen in the water acts as antioxidant due to dissolved hydrogen, that is why, hydrogen water is advertised for the health benefits.
5. Dispensing: The end product is then ready to be consumed from a faucet or a spout and you can also alter the pH of the water; increase the alkalinity of the water more than it was before.
